Thanks (David) The flat brain syndrome was revealed to me through the reading assignments for this week. I can epically relate to the section about when the brain goes flat. According to Petersen, “Expanding bellies push up through our bodies, until the pressure hits our brains, flattening them against the tops of our skulls”, (2007 p. 24). There have been numerous instances when I have felt like this. Generally after an extremely mentally challenging day at work I feel like my brain is flat. This is a personal observation which I experience more often than I would like to. I am a firsthand witness that the brain does go flat after a long day of abuse.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”, (Romans 12:2). When my brain goes flat (which seems to be almost every day) I struggle to follow the great teachings of the bible. I usually allow the stress to overcome my thinking abilities which then impairs my thought process. When I experience a flat brain I remove myself from all situations and sit in total silence before I am able to clear my mind and regroup. I plan to implement “The three-day return law”, which according to Petersen, “after three days we could go back and check to see whether we or they still really meant what was said or done”, (2007 p. 27). This would allow for a longer reflection on events and also furnish a well thought out solution to problems and issues. It seems like every corner I turn on a daily bases a new problem is presented. This happens at work and also at home. I understand that issues and problems are a part of life but they add stress and anxiety which seems to always be in addition to existing issues that have not been fully dealt with.
