The goal should be to focus on the current political circumstance of your country. This requires that you update yourself with the current state of affairs. You will need to read, broadly, from more current periodicals and regional sources, rather than peer reviewed journals or academic books, at least for the most updated information. Explaining how your country came to that current position will require you to backtrack, to understand its political and economic history, working out the background for the current moment through critical moments in its development. In short, you will be engaged in the practice of process tracing to identify key critical junctures as well as the major forces within your state and society that have shaped its development.
The focus is a broadly descriptive discussion of your country’s political development, and it should be a focused primarily on recent events and events over the past decade or since the turn of the millennium.
FORMAT
–>Length- The paper should be 7 (compete) pages to 10 pages long, although I will allow you to write in excess of 10 pages as necessary. Papers that are not 7 full complete pages WILL NOT be accepted. I will also return papers that run 13 pages with instruction that you must be more concise and suffer the requisite degree of scorn, derision, and disrespect.
–>Fonts and Margins- Your paper should utilize a font of 11 or 12. It should have margins of 1⁄2 to 1 inch. It should be double or 1 1⁄2 spaced. Papers that have fonts of greater than 12 or bigger than 1-inch margins or are triple spaced will be SEVERELY penalized and subject to scorn, disrespect, and all due ridicule.
–>Language- English and scholarly. Do not use slang. Best papers are clear, concise and in the active voice. Good language gets to the point clearly and with precision, and so achieves grace and clarity.
–>Spell and Grammar Check- You should do a spelling and grammar check of your paper before you hand it in. Papers not doing so will be sent back with scorn and disrespect.
–>Headings/ Sub-headings – Feel free to use them but do not get excessive. If you are using a heading or sub-heading on each page, you are using too many sub-headers. Do not. Be sure to use headers and sub-headers that offer clear direction to your reader. In a short paper of 7-10 pages, I think the most you can get away with 3-4 sub-headers
–>Paragraphs. Each paragraph should develop and discuss one basic important idea, normally articulated in a main sentence. That main sentence is usually the first or second sentence of your paragraph. Paragraph should usually run about a half to two-thirds a page in
length. Paragraphs that run a full page or more indicate that you may be suffering a perverse form of mental derangement in which you do not know when an idea ends or begin. If you suffer this perversion of language, be sure to consult the writing center for instruction and a remedy.
