Davidson, Hilda Ellis. Roles of the Northern Goddess. London: Routledge, 1998.
Davidson’s book provides a thorough examination of the major roles filled by the numerous pagan goddesses of Northern Europe in everyday life, including their roles in hunting, agriculture, domestic arts like weaving, the household, and death. The author discusses relevant archaeological evidence, patterns of symbol and ritual, and previous research. The book includes a number of black and white photographs of relevant artifacts.
Here is a suggested format to follow for the outline:
Title
– Should be concise and name the countries under study and the topic covered
Synopsis/Executive Summary
– Outline the purpose of the research paper
– Outline the issues and findings of the paper without the specific details, bullet points are a good way of outlining
– Here, the reader should be able to get a clear picture of the essential contents of the study.
Background/The Backdrop
– Country demographics/statistics (as related to the case)
– Briefly review Sino-African relations in the African country
– If a particular industry is under study basic information/statistics on that industry
Findings
– Identify the problem/s found in the case. Each analysis of a problem should be supported by facts given in the case and course concepts. Here, it is important to search for the underlying problems
– This section is often divided into sub-sections, one for each problem
Discussion
– Summarize the major problem/s
– Identify alternative solutions to this/these major problem/s (there is likely to be more than one – solution per problem)
– Briefly outline each alternative solution and then evaluate it in terms of its advantages and disadvantages
Conclusion
– Sum up the main points from the findings and discussion
– Choose which of the alternative solutions should be adopted
– Here integration of theory and coursework is appropriate
