THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION

THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION: Students will plan and implement a therapeutic intervention. It is the responsibility of the student to engage the entire class in the activity, as if the class was a patient, client, etc. The activity can be an art, play, or recreational therapeutic intervention. The activity should take 10-15 minutes. After the intervention is completed, students are required to facilitate a discussion of what kinds of patients/clients this intervention would benefit, the goals and purposes of the intervention, and potential modifications for other goals or populations.

Students will provide the professor with a written summary of the intervention, materials needed, goal/purpose of the intervention, and potential modifications for different goals and populations, 1-page max. Please include at least one resource that shows evidence-based practice. (60 points).

Synchronous class update: Students will need to have blank paper, a pen, crayons/colored pencils/markers on hand for each class meeting on Zoom. Meeting on Zoom will change the opportunity for engaging the class in your planned intervention. We will all need an open-mind and an extra dose of creativity to “adapt” our interventions. This is not unlike what a professional has to do on a daily basis to adapt interventions for a patient’s specific needs & with the resources available. This will challenge us all to create a reflective mindset where we have to think critically and be flexible.
